Conscious Sedation

If you are one of those patients who are white-knuckled about having a procedure done, you can take comfort knowing that we offer conscious dentistry. We understand that dental procedures can seem somewhat overwhelming and traumatic, and while our dentists are some of the best in the nation, it does nothing to negate that fact. Therefore conscious sedation is used to relax a patient and block their pain during dental procedures without putting them to sleep. This type of sedation is normally used for short or uncomplicated procedures. The benefits include a faster recovery, medication wears off quickly, no anesthesiologist or specialist are necessary to administer the drug(s), and different methods are available. There are various methods used such as oral drugs prescribed day before the procedure or day of the procedure, as well as nitrous oxide (laughing gas), shots into the muscle in the treatment zone, and an intravenous line (IV).

We want you to feel comfortable throughout the duration of your dental care. We take pride in our excellent, gentle dentistry, and encourage you to look into conscious sedation dentistry if you panic at the thought of your dental care. We will take the time to discuss your concerns and how you are feeling.

At the time of your appointment, our board-certified doctors will devise an individualized plan specific for your dental needs, which will consist of precaution measures prior to your appointment, the actual procedure, and the post care.
